Josie has been working in the field of Healthcare, Behavioral Health and Addiction Services since 1987. She started her journey in her hometown, Loma Linda, where she worked at the Loma Linda Medical Center and Behavioral Medicine Center. In 2000, Josie helped start Hemet Valley Recovery Center as the Director of Admissions and Business Development. Three years later, she founded a national marketing and events agency called Villareal and Associates, Inc. Over the the last eleven years, Villareal has helped start up and brand facilities such as The Canyon Malibu, Milestones Ranch Malibu, Sovereign Health (CA), The Ranch (TN), Circle Tree Ranch (AZ) and many others. Villareal coordinated, partnered and/or consulted with conferences such as Spirit Recovery, Betty Ford Professional Development Summit, WAAT Conferences, Recovery Summit Conference, West Coast Symposium and CAADE Conferences. In 2008, Josie founded RecoveryView.com an online Journal and CEU web-site. In 2011, Josie was appointed interim CEO of Astoria Pointe (OR) where she was a shareholder. She then became a shareholder and CEO of Awakenings by the Sea (OR) and Desert Palms (CA). Josie relinquished shares and positions at all facilities in 2012 and has since become fully focused on RecoveryView.com, her long term client His House/New Creations, and her own program called Addiction Therapeutic Services- IOP. She runs ATS-IOP with her husband, Jim, in the beautiful Palm Springs, California. Josie is blessed with a wonderful family: husband Jim, adult kids Samuel, Chelsie, Breanna and the best yet, Grandson Rory!!!
Jim Herndon, PA-C
Jim graduated from the University of Washington’s School of Medicine Physician Assistant program in 2002. Currently, Jim is the Founder of Addiction Therapeutic Services, an Intensive Outpatient Program, in Palm Springs, California. He currently provides medical services at three local substance abuse treatment centers, Michael’s House, Bella Monte, and Sovereign Health as a Medical Consultant. Jim started working in the field of addiction medicine at The Betty Ford Center in 2002. In 2008, Jim became Medical Director of ABC Recovery. His work there includes assisting the admissions and medical staff at ABC Recovery Center to ensure quality care for the clients.
He was published in 2005 in the ASAM Journal of Addictive Diseases, having co-authored an abstract recognizing that Buprenorphine detoxification increases patient retention in treatment. This protocol has since become a nationally recognized model for opiate detoxification.
Jim has been in recovery for the last 23 years. He has continued his work with alcoholics and addicts, accessing and treating their medical needs. He is presently opening a medical office in Palm Springs to offer addiction and family medicine to the local community.
